IBEW 906 JATC is seeking applicants for an Apprenticeship Instructor for the upcoming 2025 year. All interested candidates should submit a resume to the JATC offices no later than Feb. 14.
Applicants must possess a high degree of knowledge and expertise in electrical construction. Drive, determination and a self-disciplined approach to education are essential for implementing the many different JATC programs and classroom activities according to standards. Professionalism is a must, and instructors must be able to clearly and effectively address classes and large groups. Public speaking and presentation skills are a must. Flexibility, working with others and ability to learn and adapt to change is required.
Instructor Duties include, but are not limited to:
Instructing apprentices, journeymen and residential electricians.
Creating, maintaining, and administering training curriculum, during the day and sometimes in the evening.
Obtaining training and professional certifications that may require travel.
Attending and participating in community outreach programs. (Job Fairs, Student Group, Charity Work, Etc.)
Instructor Minimum Qualifications:
Five years of direct electrical experience or teaching degree or certificate
Additional Desired Qualifications:
College Degree or Equivalent Experience Familiarity with Online Courseware
Completion ofNJATC/ETA Approved Apprenticeship Program
Previous Teaching or Supervisory Experience
Current First Aid/CPR Certification
OSHA I 0, or OSHA 30 Training
Michigan Electrical Journeyman
State of Michigan Fire Alarm License
BICSI Technician
Instructor Preferences:
Knowledge of Electrical Construction. Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Experience with safe electrical work practices and procedures.
Proficiency with the National Electrical Code. Knowledge of DC Theory, AC Theory, Conduit Bending, Branch Circuits, Motor Controls, Fire Alarms, Transformers, Motors, Blueprint Reading.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
Ability to Multi-Task.
Communication and Presentation Skills.
